The Fox Frontier line launched in 2016 as Fox's answer to weekend-angler anglers who wanted aluminium poles without paying flagship prices. The XD variant (introduced 2020) added the extended footprint that pushed pack size up marginally but gave real two-man capacity. It is now Fox International's best-selling bivvy by unit volume in the UK, targeted directly at the £250 sweet spot where competitors still ship fibreglass or single-skin construction.
How it actually works on the bank
The Frontier XD uses a 4-pole aluminium alloy frame with cast-alloy hubs. Flysheet is 190D polyester with Ventec DWR treatment rated to 5,000 mm hydrostatic head - not as heavy-duty as the Trakker Tempest's 210D fabric, but perfectly adequate for UK weather when re-proofed at year 2-3. The bathtub floor is 8,000 mm HH PVC-coated, one grade down from Trakker's 10,000 mm. Internal storage is where Fox has focused refinement: two zipped storage pockets on the rear wall plus overhead hanging loops.
